We present a monolithic InP-based photonic integrated circuit (PIC) consisting of a widely tunable laser master oscillator feeding an array of integrated semiconductor optical amplifiers that are interferometrically combined on-chip in a single-mode waveguide. HHI's hybrid integration technology enables the fabrication of complex hybrid photonic integrated circuits (Hybrid PICs) based on the material systems polymer, SiN, TFLN, InP, GaAs and GaN. The compact coherent receiver, employing these InP-based integration devices, achieved a high sensitivity and demodulation. Two main approaches are used for photonic integration: monolithic and hybrid integration. Monolithic integration implements all the optical functions using one bulk material, typically indium phosphide, but a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) design implementing solely passive components is also a. Phototonics have established themselves as an essential pillar of modern and efficient lighting, ultra-high-speed data transmission and processing, and modern sensor technology for environmental, traffic, industrial, and medical applications. The DP-IQ modulator was monolithically integrated / with the Mach-Zehnder modulator array consisting of de p-ridge waveg-uides formed through dry etching and benzocyclobutene planarization pro-cesses.
